  1. Hi Eric, I am not a new but old and still happy customer ;-) (think my first license is from 2011). Checked my license portal regularly since and no new licenses have arrived nor any mails since i did my payment from the invoice i recieved from sales last week. I did send sales a few emails back with paypal proof of purchase and some extra details. Basically while waiting for my new license (that did not come) i checked my portal and found i still had an old unused key there from defunct old macbook, which i deleted and freed up one license that i have since activated on the target machine. So in my follow up mals i described that and requested if possible a refund/cancellation of last order. Is there anyone else i need o contact as want to avoid sending more mails left and right confusing the matter.
  2. Same here (did the pay with invoice route). I send some emails to sales@... Not sure if that mail adress is active so that why also post here just in case. Otherwise apologies for the spam.
  3. Hi Guys, Tnx for the replies. It may be related to open files as after carefull inspection the manual sync (the sync button the in the sanmp client) also did not work most of the times. Only a full remount worked. Thats a bit the chicken and egg problem. You set the interval to 30 seconds as you expect lost of changes that you need to have available on all read only nodes, but these same changes lock the sync mechanisme apparently. So a single file in use will lock the sync for the whole filesystem ??? Bummer...... p.s. before you ask , had already disabled spotlight for all volumes as is a known culprit. Also disabled Amphetamine (an app to keep my raid array spinning 24x7 and prevents sleep).
  4. Have lots of issues with readonly mounted xtarget share not auto updating while set to every 30 seconds. Part of render farm so clients do not see new source material unless manualy refreshed using synch button on iSANmp client. So is there some command i can put in the crontab to just trigger it that way ?
  5. Ok, clear. Thanks for the update and for taking the efford to look at it. Appreciated.
  6. Hi, Has there since (a year later) been any new development on this. softraid has now a solid reputation and very solid drivers. Any chance of supporting that as base so i can replace my last appleraid/xtarget with a softraid/xtarget ?
  7. Actually is is even more important then I thought as aparantly Apple in its infinite stupidity has dropped apple raid support in the lates incarnation of OS X. Core rot to the max.
  8. Hi Guys, Currently happily running a 6 disk OSX native raid-0 , shared via xtarget iscsi to clients. Are you planning on supporting SoftRaid Volumes as a source volume ? I tried it a while ago and the Soft Raid volumes where not recognised by xtarget, but recent version os Softraid volumes seems to get recognised and can add the lun. But fails during connection stage (it dismounts the softraid volume and losses connection) Would be cool as softraid is far superior to apple's native raid in several areas.
  9. Just an fyi for others with issues. A normal uninstall of the driver lots of times does not remove all files from your system (depending on your driver update / install / uninstall history). So after a normal uninstall with the uninstall app in /Applications/globalSAN, make sure you also check the following from terminal: sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/globalSAN.kext sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.sns.globalSAN.plist sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.sns.preference.Xtarget.plist sudo rm -rf /Applications/globalSAN Then do a search for '*iSCSI*', '*globalSAN*', '*globalsand*', '*SNSArchitectureModel*' , "*studionetwork*" and manually remove any associated files. (if you have other sns solutions installed like SANMP, be carefull not to remove components of those, or like i did just reinstall all those as well ) You are likely to find the following which should be removed. /sbin/globalsand /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.sys.globalSAN.plist /System/Library/Extensions/SNSArchitectureModel.kext Then reboot and reinstall the current version. What i did notice is that after the upgrade my read speeds dropped by more then 20-30% on the same LUN's , which is a bit worry-some as this has been a problem child of globalsan initiator (specialy but not exclusively with synology ), so i hope the developes will release a proper Maverick optimized version that not brings us back into those dark ages ;-) I would say if you have similar experiences let SNS know so they can work on that if not already done in next driver. Lets wait and see when the new promised driver is released. So far it is at least somewhat workable.
  10. Done (3 days ago) Any guestimates on the ETA of a Maverick supporting driver (or at least a decent beta ) , as you probably have been working on this for a while now (since Apple has given all developers lots of betas to test against )? I am sure there are a lot of people waiting for this as besides all the useless gimmick and crappy IOS-afication that prevented me from moving to Mountain Lion, the new memory compression in Maverick seems to work magic in some high memory load scenarios , and improved multi screen support is a good one as well, so definately want to switch asap.
  11. Net even getting to that stage. Pref panel crashes with : Process: System Preferences [503] Path: /Applications/System Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System Preferences Identifier: com.apple.systempreferences Version: 12.0 (12.0) Build Info: SystemPrefsApp-259000000000000~23 Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [419] Responsible: System Preferences [503] User ID: 501 PlugIn Path: /Library/Frameworks/Xtarget.framework/Versions/A/Xtarget PlugIn Identifier: com.sns.Xtarget PlugIn Version: 1.0 (1) Date/Time: 2013-10-25 12:32:26.476 +0200 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.9 (13A603) Report Version: 11 Anonymous UUID: 3B04608F-7097-6441-3312-08C67AE97249 Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010 VM Regions Near 0x10: --> __TEXT 0000000101fc6000-0000000101fe8000 [ 136K] r-x/rwx SM=COW /Applications/System Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System Preferences Application Specific Information: com.sns.preference.globalSAN v.5.1.1.423 (globalSAN iSCSI Initiator and Xtarget) objc[503]: GC: forcing GC OFF because OBJC_DISABLE_GC is set So yes please to a Maverick version. All my other software works fine so just waiting for you guys to do the upgrade ;-)
  12. Just a small status update. As of yesterday and after some amazing support from the guys from SNS (who i also brought in contact with the Synology guys, who were also happy to help out where possible) , the lastes test version of the globalsan initiator now is able to do proper MPIO with a Synology , multy LAN port equiped device (in my case the 5 drive 1511+ and 5 drive extension cabinet. Was not an easy job to find the culpres but SNS stuck with me analysing trace files and having me test several beta versions. Now it is more a matter of acualy getting the increased performance from it hat is theoreticaly possible with MPIO over 2 x1GB lans , but currently this is a work in progress. There are a lot of variables here on OS level, initiator, target and also the drives in use, but i have seen tests on windows with this synology box that got some very good (close to 200MB/s ) iscsi in an MPIO setup. So am hopefull. But at least we know now that is is possible. (ps Also had contact with Small-Tree , that also has a OSX iscsi initiator and tested some of their betas for the greater good, but sofar does not work with osx10.7.4/synology combo at all, let alone mpio, at least not in my setup.)
  13. Small status update: So far no luck . Whatever we try , the combination (only possible combo i can test due to ethernet>TB driver) of Lion 10.7.4. , latest Globalsan initiator 5.1.0.336 and synology DS1511 (DSM 4.0 - 2228) does not lead to a working MPIO sollution. Each path to each lun on a target will appear in iSANmp as a separate LUN. So i can mount either one or the other resulting in traffic either over one or the other path. (even trying to mount both, on a test lun as could lead to data corruption, crashes iSANmp. But i can not blame iSANmp for that as this is actualy a good thing protecting me from dataloss) The initiator should eventualy create a single virtual LUN with 2 paths to the real lun, but this does not happen for as of yet unknown reasons. So anyone with Synology and multipathing experiences (not to be confused with channel bonding) , please let me know. Will keep you updates and not giving up yet, but getting close ;-) As SNS got it working on their EVO on 10.7.4 it is likely the combination of Synology and globalsan that gives me problems. But Synology is quite popular so would be nice if we get this to work.
  14. Dear all, Since a few day i have started experimenting , together with the help of the friendly support staff of sns , to get multipath i/o to work on my small iSCSI globalsan/iSANMP setup. The reason i only now started is that non of my workstations (all mobile macbook pro's or mac mini server) had more the 1 single GB ethernet card to make proper use of my DS1511+ with its 2 network cards. Sofar i have been using those 2 cards in a bonded setup to at least have a wider channel when using more then one workstation at a time. This works good but not to take away the limit of 1GB per workstation. For that you need mpio or mc/s Now apple recently came out with a nice Thunderbolt to GB adapter so i immediately bought a few but had been paperweights untill a few days ago when apple released the 1.2.1 Tb upgrade for Lion 10.7.4 that did not thrash the machine (lukily read that in time so waited for the air to clear). Been testing on a single workstation now (mac mini server) and sofar we have not been able to get mpio top work at all. I have setup the recommende 2 separate networks for each of the 2 channels (and removed the network bond i used), and can get data over each of them , bu never 2 at the same time. In iSANMP i see every Lun 2 times in the volume list. And depending on which i use to mount the traffic is locked to the first or the second card . No failover , no MPIO and no MC/S. So my question , is there ANYONE who has EVER gotten some sort of MPIO to work with globalsan initiator / iSANmp , with ANY target ? Just want to make sure i am not doing something wrong here, which is always a good possibility. As long as i know that at least a single person has got it working this means it is possible and i can keep trying and experimenting. Keep you posted on my progress with support , who again have proven so far with me always very helpfull in getting my problems solved on an otherwise flawless and rock solid working product.
  15. Thanks. Was looking for this simultaneous GUI/CLI login as well.
